Many are speculating that we will be getting an announcement regarding the "Quest 3" or "Quest Pro" during the October Facebook Connect. But there are already strong speculation of what is needed from the next iteration from the Standalone (MobileVR) platform.

Some of the areas of development needed include:

- Enhanced VR Streaming
- Eye Tracking

- Foveated Rendering
- Improved Field of View
- Improved OLED Display
- Enhanced Audio
- Enhanced Tactile Feedback (headset and controllers)
- Better weight Relief
- Better cooling
- Return to Black Design

These are the basic overviews, but what would you want to see from the successor to the Quest2

My wish list for...

Quest 3 is a 5 to 10 deg increase in FOV, no more otherwise it risks compromising performance too much. Continued development of Air Link.

'And my personal choice would be a Halo strap that easily detaches/swaps out for the canvas strap'

'oh, plus I guess a longer battery life if possible, plugged in is fine but I probably will want to do some long sessions increasingly untethered'

Did you want to answer the question about buying a Quest 3?

This is your thread about what the next Quest 3 should have after all.

Price?

Same as all launch prices have been, stick with the $400, I've said that many times in fact.

My most recent comment on my price thoughts included reducing current 128GB Q2 price being a good idea as it re- established a gap between Q2 and a prospective Q3 at the $400 point.

As I stated many times the reason behind my personal and observational pricing.
The launch price of the Quest2 was actually :

US$299 (64 GB) US$399 (256 GB)

Would you go with a quest3 at the top rate or split it again?

No, that wasn't my question. You said you probably won't be buying a Q3.

Soooo. is that even if it has the things you've listed and regardless of the price?

Assuming Facebook read these threads, what would be the reason... they may be interested.

As far as splitting, it doesn't affect me as I choose the largest memory regardless so $400 with 128 or 256, whatever they decide to go with. The $400 has been top spec launch price and it's seems to be a sweet spot.

I have been offered a number of Quest's over the years as "review systems" and use them and send them back till recently. I think I will get a Quest3 if it was at that price the same way I had a GearVR and Go for evaluation on the fly - though in the end they are donated to associates. The issue will be if its mandatory Facebook login - the tracking of my commercial and private work would be a deal breaker no matter the price.

Wait no... 😊

Put yourself into the shoes of a consumer, and you had to buy rather than have it given to you. And you had the intention of using it on a regular basis for VR fun.

I mean come on kevinw729 this is all about a consumer headset wish list... if I received headsets for review, I'd take all of them! what would you choose to buy and use?

No wait yes..... [whatever emoji]

Put yourself in the shoes of a professional in this sector. We are able to think with more than one mindset and constantly need to reflect the market from various perspectives - the issues for a consumer in Japan looking at the Q2 and the new Taito bundle while considering the COVID impact, or a consumer in the Germany considering the Q2 but wondering about the EU implications. The observations are based on both personal and business observations - that how we roll.

I mean come on @DaftnDirect this is all about business and the consumer element is just one part, and to ignore that is to miss the point. Also trying to avoid the uncomfortable elements is an issue - the Facebook login going to mandatory in a matter of months will be a major factor as this may coincide with the Q3 availability.

I understand that you may not have self control not to "take all" the ones[headsets] offered. That is why you do you and we do what we do. I also understand it may be difficult getting out of your shoes to see the other opinions and observations. I think it is the lack of perspective that some times rankles me about discussions on the forum previously - but at least we all are making an effort now, and I appreciate that.
