They are not. It was mentioned. But it seems they can't use images of other company product so freely as it was.

Actually it was a step forward but not so great for VR. Some people try Gear and think that "VR is not great at all" up until they try 6DoF with VR controllers.

I understand - a brief mention that missed the main points of what it was was as good as no mention at all.

As I have seen stated in other forums, the GearVR was a footnote. And now that the community is prepared to admit that it's 4,+ sales - were infarct giveaways under contract, rather than sales (look at my posts from 2017 when we first stated that), then we can have a cathartic moment and admit what it was.

As we are not really allowed to discuss what happened with the Samsung bust-up, this adds the the weirdness of the situation of claiming to have outsold all previous hardware, but not really admit to the elephant in the room that was GearVR.

Kinda the same way of praising the first AAA Oculus game with Medal of Honor, but avoiding mentioning RockbandVR - some times sanitizing history can look kinda like 1984!

I think that it is not sanitizing history. You could have different point of views.

You stated that Gear is related to Oculus from inside (software, ecosystem). But as an outside view it is a product of different company (and that was an argument that Oculus store is not closed to other partners).

Same way you have not mention how many Rockband physical guitars were sold (even so there was adapter included inside Rift package).

And I think it is ok to make slogans like "we outsold ...". Slogan is short and clear as for present time. It drives people forward now. But for other people who want to know more there are history texts and videos. They are not edited or deleted. You are free to read them or watch Carmacks keynotes on mobile vr development.

Do not know of AAA, so there may by much more ported to vr and other company titles.

I think that "5 years overview" was not a "history", but inspiration to the future instead.

Totally agree @Nekto2 - I had chalked up the original omissions to different views - but the constant closing of posts that are labeled biased and "haters" makes me feel that any dissenting view is to be expunged.

I respect your views, and I appreciate you respect my views - and allow me to voice them.

To label and remove and close down, especially when posts are seen to be generating discussion that can not be controlled - that is sterilization. And explains the exodus of posters.

Thank you for your comments and observations.
