Why not 4k?

So when people say they want oculus with 4k screens, do they mean each screen to have 4k or altogether? which would actually be 2000p each. Also people say 4k is not currently possible for oculus? Well, why not? Since the technology already exists and samsung are even bringing out 4k mobiles.

How about we shrink this 5K screen... http://www.tomshardware.com/news/dell-monitor-display-5k-ultrasharp,27613.html

That has lower PPI than my old Nokia phone

Ummmm... YEah... It's suppose to be... It's a 27" monitor...

4K 27" are 163.18 PPI this is 218 PPI which is way better than 4K at that size.

The old Nokia crams a large resolution into a much smaller screen hence higher PPI which is literally "pixels per inch" ... For a desktop monitor this is really good...

According to PPI calculator:

1080p 27 inch screen = 81.59 PPI
1080p 22 inch screen = 100.13 PPI
1080p 5 inch screen = 440.58 PPI

4K 27 inch screen = 163.18 PPI
4K 22 inch screen = 200.26 PPI
4K 5 inch screen = 881.16 PPI

5K 27 inch screen = 217.57 PPI
5K 22 inch screen = 267.02 PPI
5K 5 inch screen = 1174.88 PPI

As screen gets smaller the PPI increases...

A 8K 22" screen would have 7680 x 4320 resolution and still only clock in at 400.53 PPI
A 8K 5" screen would have the same 7680 x 4320 resolution but equal 1762.33 PPI
