Will VR/AR make October 2016 the scariest Halloween in mankinds history?

VR and AR have officially gone mainstream, globally. The Horror genre has proven to stand out more than just about everything else, including gaming, the porn industry, and 360-film. This may not hold true for long since every industry is still in its infancy in terms of VR/AR adoption and implementation. Nonetheless, this is the first Halloween that we will experience with VR/AR as a mainstream technology... with the Horror genre experienced via games, app's, and film leading the charge.

I think that we are very well suited to experience the scariest Halloween in recorded history. Succeeding beyond haunted house experiences (both real and fake), and even beyond the inception or Lord Satan himself. How about the rest of you?

Thanks for the link, It is nice to have a place to gather up all the titles available to play on the Rift for Halloween parties to scare the crap out of family and friends 🙂

I'm going to buy Elevator Ritual for Halloween. I already have Affected
and Dreadhalls, so I'm pretty much all set for my friends to get scared
as hell.

There are some other good horror games available on Steam,

Boogeyman

And when Touch releases (which should be before Halloween), I'm going for this one,

Emily Wants to Play

If you're throwing a party, make sure to set the Rift up in an isolated room, where your other guests can hear the participant screaming but not know what's going on.

That reminds me, I never did get around to playing "Amnesia".... might have to try it with VorpX for this year's Halloween.

And then give up and watch childrens' halloween movies instead.

Some of my favorite comments from "Emily Wants to Play"

Thank jeasus i dont have a heart condition otherwise id probably
be dead from all those F-ing jumpscares. Emily can f*** right off.

The single scariest experience you will ever have. Can't make any
progress because we basically have a heart attack in the first minute of
gameplay.

This game sucessfully scared me, my dogs and my wife. And I was the only one playing...
While playing I recommend adult diepers, post play I endorse horse tranquilizers to wind down.

Oh yeah, I think it bears mentioning that Edge of Nowhere would make a great halloween binge-play, for anyone who hasn't checked it out yet.  (though I think most of us have, by now?)

That ending... I was literally too terrified to look.  No jump-scare will ever live up to that kind of horror.

I love that ending sequence in "Edge of Nowhere." That alone made the entire experience worth it.

For VR stuff, I will be letting others use precious to experience some of the best horror games I've found and to force myself to finish the couple I had abandoned! I am determined to reach the end of these 2-3 titles that were a little too freaky at the time. Something I might add, that has never occurred for me until virtual reality.

Other plans for this Halloween include giving candy to the few kids who can find my house on the actual night itself, experiencing Enfield's Haunted Trail and attending Scare Fest with one of my best friends, and of course, scaring the bajeezus out of all my neighbors.

There's also my mother and one of my sister's birthdays, although I guess that doesn't count for Halloween stuff. Though to be fair, my sister always makes it into a costume party. Last year I even made one of her friends cry with my Donnie Darko bunny costume. I felt bad but it was still rather funny.

Me neither - I seem to keep forgetting about this one.

Outlast with VorpX is supposed to have you close to filling your pants lol.

Not getting my Rift until the beginning of November so I won't have it for Halloween unfortunately. Dreadhalls is going to be the first game I'm going to play on it though when I do get it. I love horror games. I bought Outlast, Dear Esther (not sure if it's a horror game but it looks a bit spooky lol), Monstrum, the Bioshock Trilogy and Resident Evil Revelaitons 2 so they should all keep me busy.

I'm also thinking about getting my game - Nakamura's Pride - finished before Halloween next year if I can manage it too. I'm planning on having a Dreadhalls type of experience but with enemies you can kill rather than ones you have to avoid or run away from. So it's going to be more survival-horror than horror but should be pretty scary.

Luckily for me I'm immune to simulation sickness so I won't have any problems playing those first person games in VR using VorpX. Bioshock 1 in particular is supposed to be pretty unnerving in VR so I'm really looking forward to it.  B)
