Wooorld

I haven't seem this posted but it basically looks like a table-top version of Google Earth VR for the Quest, with collaboration tools and passthrough. Street View is there too in full 360.

It seems to have been in development for some time but hopefully it'll be released soon and would be an answer to a number of questions form people asking for a Quest version of GE VR.

The collab tools arguably make it more useful and kind of fun.

That does look pretty cool.  I have the Wander app and that allows you to pick locations and do kinda the same thing.  I found where all the hotels and casinos are in Vegas and sat in the middle of the street, looking all around at them.

If you don't want to wait for Wooorld, you can already use the same features with high2earth today - except for the multiplayer function. https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/8372285682797266/

Thanks @martdob that looks like it's worth a look.

I just checked for an update on Wooorld release and it seems to be coming out on the 25th October to coincide with the Quest Pro launch.

With decent stereo mixed reality available, this is the kind of app that future consumer Quests will be perfect for. Really looking forward to trying this stuff out next week.

(it'll be available on Quest 2 also, as per the original vid)

Launch video shows some additional features, looking very interesting. Some of the avatars seem to be making use of the face/eye tracking:

Not All Major Cities are in 3D?

Just curious why cities like London are not offered in 3D in the Wooorld VR App? Is this something that is still coming?

This looks really cool! I'm sure future updates will probably add more cities to the game but I think the developers would know more about that than I would.

Genesis does what Nintendon't! Send me a DM if you have questions. I'm happy to help!

Yeah it seems just a few cities are 3D, not sure what data is being used but it looks like it isn't Google Earth data, so maybe in-house or some licence-free data, the cities that are there don't seem to be as detailed as the GE models.

Google street view is there for all of the streets though.... at least all the ones I had a look at, so that's something. Hopefully more world models will be added.

I do love the Google Street View integration. The latest update appears to have improved the on-boarding UI? I look forward to continued refinement of the app, it has a lot of potential for being a go-to resource, especially as more cities get the 3D treatment.

Hello
why I can't see Paris in the VR app "Wooorld" ?
