forgot pattern locked out of Oculus quest 2 headset

I thought it would be a good idea to set a pattern unlock on  my headset but i instantly forgot it and i am now locked out. it says that to unlock it, i need to go into the Oculus app on my phone and reset it by clicking on the headset and going into more settings. However, when i try and connect to the headset, i have to use the pattern to be able to connect. so i cant reset the pattern without entering the pattern. i don't want to factory reset my device as i'll lose all my data on all the games I've been playing. i have tried using sidequest to backup my headset to reset it but it won't let me in without unlocking the headset. if anyone knows a way around this or any other way i can reset my device without losing data, I'd be eternally grateful.

Anyone reading this trying to figure it out, its hopeless. Just hold POWER+VOLUME to factory reset it.

 

I, on the other hand am going to chuck my oculus at a wall, **bleep** facebook

you can factory reset it without the pattern? 

Sure. Hold down the power button until it turns off, hold down Vol-, then hold down power until the unit starts and you get to the boot menu. Select factory reset.

I thought that was what the pin code was meant for, imagine if if you had to reset your phone because you forgot your unlock pattern

What if the App does not show anything to click under Reset?  Worst customer support ever.

So they are dead set on customers hard resetting the unit only? Gotcha. I'll hard reset then sell this trash on Ebay.

Still no Solution from Meta, We need the ability to remove the locking pattern via pin in case we forgot the locking pattern, is that simple, when are you going to start to listen to your customers Customer Support?

Hey galcarde! We see that you are having issues with resetting the pattern that was forgotten. We understand how much of an inconvenience this is and we would like to make sure we get you pointed in the right direction. To start off we would like to get you to try the following. This should allow you to unlock your pattern with a pincode:

 

  • Open the Meta Quest app and tap Devices.
  • Select your headset then swipe down to Headset Settings.
  • Tap Unlock Pattern then tap Remove Unlock Pattern.
  • Enter your PIN and tap Submit.
  • If you're unable to remove your unlock pattern using the Meta Quest mobile app, you can factory reset your headset.

If you click here you will also be directed to our support page that gives you more detail about troubleshooting a forgotten pattern. We know that doing a factory reset is the last thing you want to do, which is why we try to only give it as the last option. However, in this case, if the pin does not work, this is by far the best option. If you have backup saved then all your apps and progress will be saved to your account, and are not saved to the device. Also, if you do not have a pin or have forgotten that, just click on forgot pin, and then you can proceed with creating one and then you can start with the steps we have given above. The function you have mentioned does not exist, there is no option to remove the unlock pattern using a pin in the app, and I'm not going to factory reset my headset either. Waiting for a solution!!!

Found a fix online for this from some guy on reddit  Longjumping_Fall_255 .  Delete the app from your phone.  Then re-install it and once re-installed open the app on your phone.  Then turn on your Oculus and enter your pattern and it should open.  Just reconnect the headset with your account then and it all should work.  Did for me anyway.  I've been locked out of it since last summer and I was absolutely waiting for a workaround.
