As soon as you enter some games that use the microphone the oculus party chat no longer works, which means communicating with your friends to try and join the same lobby is impossible unless you have a phone nearby with their personal details to contact them.
This is a basic function on literally every other new gen console now, and with VR it should be no different.
Absolutely ridiculous that this obvious, basic functionality has been MIA for several crucial months now. Millions getting into VR for the first time, coaxing friends/family to get a headset too and join them, and their first impression is this illogical, frustrating system. This should be highest priority.
This is the number one issue with the Quest platform in my experience. In a party with five or more friends, coordinating everyone is already difficultâbut every single time we play we have to spend an entire hour finicking with parties/ingame audio, rebooting headsets, et cetera, just to have basic in-game voice chat where we can all hear each other. And that's only if all of us manage not to quit out of frustration, which has happened more often than I can count. If we're in a party before entering the game, it's usually fine. If four of us are in a party, all five of us enter the game, and then add the fifth person to the party, that fifth person will be stuck with in-game voice chat rather than the party chat, so we can all hear them but they can't hear us. Of course this is a system limitation within Androidâno two apps can use the microphone simultaneously.
I understand that a lot of this can be on the developer's side regarding microphone permissions. It should be a requirement for all developers who wish to use their own in-game voice chat to stop using the microphone if the user is in a party. If they don't, their app should be rejected from the store until it does.
This is a harmful issue that can seriously hurt VR in the long run if it isn't fixed very soon.
agree, this is plain stupid, this is the main reason me and my friends stopped playing on the native Quest platform... we are now playing PCVR with Discord and we very happy with this decision... unfortunately not everybody has powerful GPUs, so Oculus/Facebook you NEED to remove this idiotic restriction or all you will do is force people away from your platform
Vrchat is a very large example of this. Sometimes I canât connect to the game that my friends are in and then I end up chatting them to come back out.
This, please. I play on PC using Air Link or VD to my Q2 while I play with my Niece on her Q2 and this was a major headache while playing Rec Room together. We just wanted to talk in party chat through our headsets but it was impossible once she'd boot up Rec Room on her headset.
Man its been so long and it dtill doesnt work properly. It works with some games but thats bc the devs of that game made it happen not bc its a standerd thing in oculus
Sooooo frustrating trying to play a game with your friends and having to Literally walk through what we are going to do in the game before starting it so we can join the right server together⦠please please fix this.
I, as most everyone else who has purchased the "Face Your Fears" app has somehow lost all except the two that are free in the first place. I've recently had to re-boot all of my apps and now they are in not installed., I have tried to re-install the FYF. also the Dispatch app isn't working and to top it off there doesn't seem to be any way to even repurchase the FYF's apps.
