Your recent demand that all social users engage through Facebook is a bad decidion. I will not allow my children to be exposed thru Facebook so you can make a few pennies in marketing kickbacks. We will never participate in an Oculus social media again and I will actively campaign online against you from this point on.
Yeah, I genuinely thought that I couldn't figure out how to add a friend to my Oculus account. Turns out, it's a feature not a bug. There's plenty of good reasons why someone wouldn't want to link to a Facebook account or any social media account for that matter. Here's one: it's inconvenient and unnecessary. Why am I now signing up for yet another thing to get full access to something that I've already paid for? It's "Powered by Facebook" so what does that mean to me? Honestly what does that even mean? Does it improve my experience in any way other then granting me access to what I could do before without Facebook?
REMOVE THE REQUIREMENT OF FACEBOOK FOR SOCIAL FEATURE! I've put so much money into Oculus and now you add this. I hate facebook and want no part of it. I wish I had never bought this device now. Will never recommend to anyone again.
At least for the Rift, a FACEBOOK account shouldn't be required to use the social features (like the friends list). I don't care what Oculus requires for the Quest.
I had an old Facebook account that I deleted many years ago. I used that same email to create my oculus account before this change. As a result, I canât even connect my Facebook account no matter what I do. I have almost 100 friend request on oculus that I canât answer. This is really, really, REALLY stupid.
i don't own a Facebook account. I don't want a Facebook account. Keep Facebook away from VR and how about an Oculus VR social capability for gaming with friends/family that is NOT tied to Facebook?!!
I only use Facebook for messenger, my profile is deactivated. Even though I can use messenger just fine if I try to connect to oculus it reactivates my profile. I am not interested in having a Facebook profile just to use social features. This alone could completely kill oculus as a platform, they need to realize their audience of enthusiast pc gamers does not like Facebook and a large number do not use it.
