Oculus GO sales numbers? (UPDATE)

So I have been keeping an eye on Oculus App Android downloads numbers, A week after launch it was at 10,000 now it's at 50,000 plus (this is not counting ios devices, damn you apple) .. I'm not saying that this is indicative of anything but nice to see it growing, esp that it has been out for only 2 and a half weeks and seems to be gaining buzz. (Not to mention increased number of new members on this forum, although I would not have expected huge numbers as Mainstreamers don't tend to hang in forums heh) Will be interesting to see numbers grow when the GO gets released in countries outside of the US (yes it's available at oculus.com) but it is nowhere to be found at other retailers, online or otherwise.

EDIT May 31st:

Yup, and China will be the same once Oculus can make the stock available. This is where Hans Hartmann is going to be earning his money yet again. He's a specialist in production and logistics so should be able to speed up production pretty well as time goes on as well as being able to get the production costs down, although the Xiaomi manufacturing will also play a part in getting those two things sorted out too.

I'm still waiting for iFixit to take one of these things apart so that we can find out who makes the panels, I suspect that it's Xiaomi rather than Samsung which is a big part of why the Oculus Go is so cheap to buy. Xiaomi's phones are as cheap as chips to buy too.

Just wait for the official Minecraft release. That thing alone will boost sales to a new level. 😄

Hey guys, don't let this great thread die! It's now June 17th, approx. 47 days since we bought our Gos on May 1 ... any update to the sales figures?

Well, not from iFixit but from CNET:

Aw. He didn't take the LCD apart so that we can find out who made the thing. 😞

Nice video apart from that though!

That is surprising, especially as the UK launch has been pretty pathetic.
Although Currys PC World have mentioned pre-order on their website, if you ask in store you get nothing but blank looks.
The same is true for John Lewis and Game.. very very poor promotion of this product.

another gripe is the complete lack of coordinated responses from Oculus about some of the widely report issues with 'Go'.. these include:
- battery life when watching movies being less than an average blockbuster
- white spots showing on the display when dark (pixel death already, really??)
- premature wear on the head strap stitching
- pop up messages spoiling movie viewing
- lack of on screen information on remaining storage
- an external storage option
- no power adapter outside US... why?
- updates
there are more, just look on the main independent Facebook page about the Go.

So come on Oculus... at the recent E3 show, VR is the next big thing, buck up or you'll be left behind.

Well as is always the case, people who don't have a problem with their hardware (of whatever kind) tend not to post about it. So it can be extremely misleading to read about problems without looking at the total number of sales, against the number of problem posts.

As for lack of advertising... well if the manufacturing pipeline is nearing it's capacity, Oculus may just be taking a view that they'll sell every unit they make whether there's a big advertising campaign or not.

I have a complete lack of respect for most of the advertising wanks at the best of times. The more I'm advertised at, the more I'm inclined to dislike a product.... I know it's irrational but there you go!

I've been reading people saying this since 2016, and it aint happened yet. Quite the contrary, in fact.

if the stupid crypto miners hadn't consumed all the decent Video cards I suspect we would have seen better pickup; a LOT of people  I work with (building full of programmers/nerds/engineers) and anyone who doesn't have a VR headset says the $700+ VC is the biggest killer for them.. the GO is very cool (my son might be getting one for Xmas), but for proper gaming you need a proper headset.
Though you are more than slightly incoherent, I agree with you Madam,
a plum is a terrible thing to do to a nostril.
