Studio Share not working

wreckertike

HI all, I am trying to get Studio share working to no avail. Have tried multiple accounts, different machines. Checked its not a firewall issue with other multiplayer experiences, seems fine. Started a party with someone in the lab, no problem. When the invite is sent, its received fine, once accepted it says Connected but then immediately says its been disconnected. Any suggestions? We have an artist coming through this week and would love to be in space with him. Thanks!

My friend and me had the same problem a few days ago. Not tried since then.

But would be nice to know if there is any fix we can do....

An
associate and I were trying to use Medium's Studio Share feature for
the first time the other night and again today. After several failed attempts, we both
re-installed Medium and restarted Windows. The problem was consistent:
invitation was sent & received, the joining account's avatar was
displayed with a message "connecting...", then the session would start
and immediately end. Eventually, I received this error code:
OVR68173290.

I emailed Oculus Support saying: 'Any help or insight into this matter would be greatly appreciated.'

Oculus Support replied; copied below. I think the steps are unreasonable and don't offer any assurance of success. If anyone gets it working following these steps, let use know.

Hello Cedar,

Thank you for contacting us.

I
understand that the Studio Share feature on the app Oculus Medium is
not working for you. I will be most happy to look into that.

Thanks for troubleshooting before reaching out to us.

Please
note that most antivirus software may cause these kind of issues. To
work around the issue, make sure you have the latest updates and add
Oculus as a trusted program in the settings of your antivirus software. Click here for more information.

We
also suggest temporarily disabling or uninstalling any antivirus,
anti-malware (MalwareBytes) and firewall programs including the Windows
Defender.

Are
you using a restricted network? Proxies, VPNs and restricted networks
can sometime interfere with Oculus and prevent it from connecting to our
server.

Please uninstall graphics driver, restart computer and reinstall the driver. Also, update Rift and USB drivers. You can click here to find the detailed instructions.

Also, ensure all Windows updates are completed and restart the computer.

You can try these steps:

  1. Restart the Oculus app
  2. Restart your computer and ensure there’s no problems with your network connection
  3. Try using a Windows user account that has administrator privileges
  4. Run Oculus repair utility:
    1. Open the Run window (Windows key + R)
    2. Enter and run: C:\Program Files\Oculus\OculusSetup.exe
    3. Select the "Repair" option

I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hmmmm, seems a bit of overkill, we had studio share working fine until after the medium update, so my guess is that something happened in the update. Will try again this week and post if any progress.
