120Hz Refresh Rate Likely Coming to Quest 2

Facebook originally launched Oculus Quest 2 with a default 72Hz refresh rate and ‘experimental’ support for 90Hz, which has since become the new default. A faster refresh rate makes the virtual world inside the headset smoother, more comfortable, and more immersive.

During a Q&A session on Instagram, Andrew “Boz” Bosworth, the VP of Facebook Reality Labs, responded with a literal ‘thumbs up’ to a question about whether Quest 2 would see an update to 120Hz.

it can easily handle it but the heat and power needs, need to be taken into consideration.

John carmack warned against a roll out to it.

That is one sweet setup. Though, mine is not too shabby in my opinion.

I think only a few games would really benefit from this. For example, Beat Saber or Pistol Whip would be great candidates. It would be great if in PCVR games like Onward you could play at 120, but our course you will either need beastly video cards or lowered quality.

That's awesome! I have thought about putting a big fan up when I am doing VR as they claim it cuts down on nausea, but I have played long enough that I really don't experience any VR sickness, even in things like Squadrons or Lone Echo.
