Hello everyone,

Just got my quest, I just want to set it up for Oculus Link but when I connect the Quest to a port on my motherboard (x370 MSI CARBON PRO) it states that I'm connected to a 2.0 port, but i know for a fact that its a 3.1 port.

Thank you.

@TomCgcmfc doesn’t the most recent update let you play with the charge cable?

Yes it does, but it’s still only a USB 2.0 cable. So as Tom pointed out, will only report as a USB 2.0 cable.
Connecting a USB 2.0 cable to a 3.1 USB port doesn’t magically make the cable perform like a 3.1 cable.

Thanks @enigma01 , spot on mate!  @5alo_of for now just ignore the warning and carry on.  If you want better Link performance I recommend you buy the official Oculus Link cable.  At least the usb2.0 charge cable should allow you to run simple VR games ok.

@5alo_of what are you using as a link cable?  If it's the charge cable that came with your Quest then that is only usb 2.0 so it will never report otherwise.

Apparently connecting a 3.0 cable to a 3.0/1 port makes it magically a 2.0 one so I wouldn't find the opposite to be too much of a stretch

even more annoying now since it doesn't just reject the lowered connection it just tells you to use 3.0.

Hopefully you will have better luck with your new Index, lol!

I just tried the USB 2.0 charge cable and was pretty impressed with it, hardly any stutter at all, and none in games.  All my stutter seems to be when I first enter the Oculus desktop - this is true for USB 3.0 as well.  Changing the priority of the oculus service helps quite a bit - I guess thats coz I have an i5 cpu.
