What should I do ? (battery drainage with an adapter)

Hi, I have a problem. Recently, I have bought my oculus quest 2. Everything is awesome, but there is still a problem with my usb. I have an original oculus link cable, and recently I bought an adapter (cause I don't have any c ports). Everything is working flawlessly, but my oculus battery is draining. Now, I have 2 options. One is : Resend the oculus link cable, and that adapter I bought, lose some money on shipping, but still gain some, and buy a cable that has a usb 3.0 (3.1 ?) port at the end. The other option (That I can think of) is, buying a pci adapter and plugging it to the motherboard, for new c port (I think buying an entire new motherboard, just for the port would be a huge overkill) The thing is, I don't know what to do. The second option, seems better (cause I don't really want to resend stuff) but It will cost much more money, and I don't have any skills regarding building a pc, or changing pc parts. So, my idea was to go to the IT store, and ask some specialists to do it for me. Now, how will I be able, to know which adapter exactly will work ? Like, what model, what motherboard is compatible, will it fit ? etc. I know, that specialists will help mi with that, but the only thing that worry's me is that battery power. How do I know, if adapter plugged to the motherboard, will be enough to always power my quest to 100 % ? Maybe I don't have to buy anything, and plug it (with the adapter) into some other usb 3.0 port that I have ? How do I know which will be more powerfull ? Or, unplug some stuff (like keyboard) to give it more power ? Which option would you guys choose ? Thanks

battery drain from onboard usb 3.1 is a real thing i don't there is enough power to supply to quest.

this can supply up to 2.4 amps

but i think virtual desktop and use the port to supply power might be better option.

Guys, there's already a thread on battery drain, can you have a look at that and see if it's the same behaviour because if so, it may be designed to not always charge to 100% when using Link. If its a different behaviour then add a comment or go ahead and open a ticket

The problem isn't your cable or adapter, it's your USB ports. USB-A ports only supply 4.5W, rather than the 15W that USB-C can supply. So, option 1 will not do anything for you. You can use a PCIe USB-C card, but not all of them supply the 15W power that USB-C ports are supposed to provide. I recently installed this StarTech USB-C card. It was the only one I found that provided 15W of power.

Question--how fast does the battery drain with the adapter you've been using? Even with a proper USB-C port, it won't keep your Quest at 100% while in use. From the testing we've been doing in the other thread that was linked above, it seems to let the battery drain until it gets below 80%, then it keeps it at that charge, but doesn't charge it up while you're playing. With my Quest 1 and a USB3-A adapter, I could play for several hours without the battery draining too much. You may find that the drainage isn't too limiting a factor--it should drain slower than the battery would on its own.
