Can't get Rift S to reinstall

I'm using Windows 11. After hearing that many are able to get Oculus running on Win 11 I wanted to give a shot.  The software installed just fine.  But during the setup, it couldn't recognize the headset's sensors.  Looking at my device manager, I noticed the caution icon over the Rift S entry. I saw the following errors when looking at the Rift S properties:

1) This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The I/O device is configured incorrectly or the configuration parameters to the driver are incorrect

AND....

2) Device USB\VID_2833&PID_4051&MI_00\7&26566ac&1&0000 requires further installation.

Any idea of how to correct this? And when will we finally get a proper software suite for Win 11??

Hey boevad! We know strange errors can be pretty confusing, so we'd be more than glad to help out! We do want to share that although Windows 11 is supported, it is still currently in the beta stages so compatibility isn't fully guaranteed.

A couple of basics that could help out are as follows:

  • Ensure your GPU drivers are up to date
  • Check your USB power save settings:
    • Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager
    • Find your USB ports
    • Right-click and select Properties
    • Go to Power Management
    • Make sure that options to save power are deselected
      • NOTE: It is normal that some of them will not have any checkbox for power saving settings

If those don't seem to help, feel free to reach back out and we would be more than glad to further help!

I have already taken these steps. What else would you recommend?

Thank you for getting back with us! Windows 11 is supported, it is still currently in the beta stages, so compatibility isn't fully guaranteed.

We recommend you gather your logs with these steps and submit a support ticket. One of our specialists will be happy to take a deeper look!

I followed the steps listed above and have submitted a ticket. But still have not received any response from support.

@boevad  Why not rollback to win10?  I think you have 10 days to do a simple rollback.  This should have been enough time to try it out.

Good question…PC came loaded with Win 11. I never saw and option to rollback and now it’s too late….way outside of the 10 day window

@boevad  I used to get a similar problem with my now retired Rift S, even with Win10.  Try going into device manager, right click on the Rift S item(s) and uninstall them.  Then scan for hardware changes (or restart your pc) and see if these install properly.  If not maybe download the desktop app and run a Repair.  Also, don’t opt into the beta.

Sorry, all I can think of right now.

Thanks for your help.  I’ll try these ideas when I get home tonight and let you know how I make out. I’m thinking I’ll just have to sit tight until they get a Win 11 apps up and running.
