The worst part is it is not consistent. I played 3 hours last night straight, ZERO issues. I never unplugged anything, or changed anything, and today I play and it crashes in the main menu. This is just awful. Why continue to ignore this issue and not fix it?
Anyways, here is my list of fixes. Hopefully this helps someone because it did not help me. Cannot post links unfortunately.
Run Oculus in Administrator mode
Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> Hardware
Close Other Webcam software
Look through Task Manager for apps that may interfere
Visual C++ Install -
Reinstall/Update Geforce Experience drivers
Reinstall/Update Chipset Drivers -
Check Windows Update for updates
Make sure SteamVR, Oculus, Headset are all up to date
Check Cables:
Change DisplayPort- make sure it is first on GPU
Make sure you use a USB 3.0 Red connector
Just try all USB connectors
Try without USB extensions
Try without USB Hubs
Unplug other USB devices you may not need
USB Select Suspend
Reinstall USB Drivers
Power Managment on USB Drivers
Update drivers through oculus-driver: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers
Reinstall Oculus software:
Repair Oculus software
Uninstall Razer Cortex, turn off Kaspersky, other anti virus software
Try with no headset audio
Public Test Channel
Install Oculus tray app
Install RiftS Fix app -
Use Steam VR Beta
Uninstall Steam VR and try to run the game (you don't need Steam VR to play)
Reinstall Steam VR
Run Steam VR without opening steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\bin\win64
Install on separate account -
End Game fixes:
Internal/External Powered USB Hub -
Use headphones
Lower Ram voltage - link
New PSU
Reset your PC/Windows
