Touch and Haptics known issues

mfmf
Oculus Staff
Please let us know if you encounter Touch and Haptics issues not on this list. Thanks.

New Known Issues
  • Touch tracking in some setups can occasionally (around once/minute) become highly jittery and unstable for around a second.
  • GetControllerAngularVelocity (Unity) does not work.
  • UE4 blueprint to get Touch controller tracking state always returns true, regardless of tracked state.
  • "Active controller" concept is not fully implemented in 1.8. In 1.9 it should be based off of the Touch controller's held state. (This will also allow Guardian system to ignore unheld Touch controllers for boundary display purposes.)
  • Post-calibration height drift of up to a couple feet
    can occur.

Older Known Issues

Haptics:
  • Haptics are unreliable in UE4 4.12.5 and earlier. As of the time of this posting, the only reliable UE4 haptics integration is from the Oculus distributions here: https://github.com/Oculus-VR/UnrealEngine
  • You can no longer call ovr_SetControllerVibration with ovrControllerType_Touch (as a pair). That is now treated as an error, and calling only succeeds with ovrControllerType_LTouch or ovrControllerType_RTouch.
  • Frequency can only be set to 0, 0.5, and 1, corresponding to off, 160Hz, and 320Hz.
Touch:
• If you have batteries in two Right Touch controllers, they can fight and corrupt data in %localappdata%/Oculus/TouchCalibration/* - So delete that data if you accidentally let two controllers fight. This bug manifests as severely degraded tracking.
* The battery can become briefly disconnected when the controller is given a hard shake. It can take from several seconds to a couple minutes to regain tracking in this case, and the fastest fix is to remove and reinsert the battery.

Known issues, will not be fixed:
• Proto 1 controllers still require the “battery dance” to pair, but we’ve removed the UX for that: Remove battery. Hold down B/Y. Insert battery. Device will now be in pairing mode.
• EVT2 Touch should never be mixed with pre-CV1 SID or earlier versions of Touch, or pre-PVT remotes. Remove batteries from the old hardware to fix it. This bug manifests as severely degraded tracking.

An issue I am having: https://forums.oculus.com/vip/discussion/44132/oculus-touch-and-unity-ui-buttons-ui-toggles#latest

I made a thread entirely for this issue and am unable to delete this comment.
