Samsung Gear VR versions, Oculus software versions needed to solve problems.

Level 4

Hello and have a nice day, to all members of the community.

Please allow me to suggest you a new subject to discuss (the topic is the same one you read in the title)

Since the SAMSUNG producer has discontinued the development and support for his VR devices, we can help each other in this forum.

I am curious to hear if somebody is still using the Samsung Gear VR and can share with us the following pieces of information: 1-GEAR VR NAME- examples: "Samsung Gear VR R323" ; "Samsung Gear VR R325" etc.

2- PHONE TYPE- examples: " Samsung Galaxy S6, S7, S8... " etc.

4-OCULUS version.

5-Any other applications related to the well functioning of the GEAR VR device that you use now.

All those information will help the community to search, download and install the proper pack in order to make their Samsung Gear VR.

Any other suggestions and ideas are well appreciated and I want to thank you all for your time and understanding.

Level 2

Hi, this is my info and issue:

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S8

Gear Vr Name: SAMSUNG GEAR Vr with Controller

Android Version: 9

Oculus Version: oculus gear vr

I keep getting the same message every time I try to log in: "Facebook session expired." I have try almost everything I could, from reinstalling the oculus app and Facebook app to creating a new fb account and meta account. Nothing seems to work. It seems to me that the app is clashing with the fb app, why? I have no clue. I sent a private message and email to oculus support, if they reply with a solution that works, I'll message here again.

Samsung Galaxy S8+ SM-G955FD

Android version 8.0.0

Gear Vr Services

Gear Vr. System

Samsung Gear VR SM-R325 with controller - after pairing the 2 devices all the software was installed automatically.

Oculus app. can not connect with Facebook, and the error message "Facebook session expired or invalid"-Nobody can offer a solution to this issue until now.

I suggest that PrintScreens from the phone menu "applications" can be easily taken instead of writing manually the application versions when reporting the problems.

It will be a nice contribution from anybody who can post and send us a "NORMAL AND WORKING CONFIGURATION" if there are any.

It's not a secret that we can find web pages where we can free download the older versions of OCULUS and other apps.

If there are any other so-called "crazy ideas" or suggestions that you have do not hesitate to share with us.

Thank you in advance.

I'm having the same issue. So I took my Gear VR to a Samsung "geek squad" repair venue. They told me it's a system wide issue originating with Facebook and that Facebook is aware of it and working to fix it.

Dear member ID- bradmm.856048 I am sorry to hear that you are in the same situation as us.

I am from Eastern Europe, and after waisting a lot of time and energy to convince Samsung official representatives to send a letter with their politics and rules concerning the Samsung Gear VR device and the form response that they totally ended their support in 2020, now I'm convinced that this issue will continue and nobody will take care of it.

Due to such a diversity of Samsung phones with different Android versions try to imagine all the variables to take into consideration when a specialist tries to solve compatibility problems. This effort take time and nobody wastes his time without payment or reward.

If you can please mention your country where the Samsung squad was contacted and try to solve the problem.

We will try to maintain contact if any good news or solution will be posted here.

I'm getting the same thing here in New York. After no luck on Samsung customer support online I finally took my Gear VR to a Geek Squad service for Samsung at Best Buy in NYC. They told me the issue is with Facebook. Apparently Facebook is aware of it and is working on a fix. We'll see.

Hello again, the latest news from Samsung's official support of Eastern Europe came today. After 3 days of analyzing the information that I and other Samsung users (and clients) reported via phone, the email they decided to call me back and state: " Please try to understand we will no longer develop the VR technology nor support the devices". In a couple of days, they promise to send their official decision through email. The Samsung Gear VR set with the controller can be purchased at the incredible price of 20 US $ because nobody can use them anymore and get rid of them quickly.

Unexpectedly and prompt response from Samsung after my report with the error: "Facebook connection expired or invalid. Please try again to connect to Facebook".Samsung RO 2.jpg
