I think it's about time to actually release a game.



Been working on this in my spare time. Long way to go... Going to blog in various forums to keep me motivated to finish it.

Not sure what to call it but it's a Hotline Miami inspired VR shooter.

Although I didn't make it as an Oculus Quest game I was encouraged to join Oculus Start. Decided to go with it 

as the developer program looks very good. First cut is still going to be a VR game 🙂

I didn't quite get as far as I wanted to in 2020. Goes without saying it was a pretty rough year.

A bunch of people want a Jacket like character that's basically an average Joe (feedback from a Reddit thread). I feel I've leaned way too heavily on the source material to the point it's creatively bankrupt. Any ideas to spice up the concept?

Might just move on for now. Got a couple more game play elements to touch on and then I can start putting the bits and pieces together.

I think I preferred the jump suit more. Not that I have played Hotline Miami but looking at the main screenshots the main character is wearing this outfit. So it may seem more like a copy than inspired by.

How about Maurice Moss from IT crowd. Just your mild mannered average IT guy.

Hey thanks for the feedback Luceiferous!

The jump suits guys are the enemies and was hoping to make the player different.

This is for the character you play and I really like the Maurice idea. I was actually leaning in a similar direction at some point. Donnie Darko "Stupid Man Suit" was in my original design notes. Now that I think about it, it makes sense to be an IT guy given the general theme...

Hey Luceiferous,

I took your feedback onboard. You were 100% right that it was more of a copy than inspired. I watched a tonne of Maurice videos (hilarious stuff!) and came to the conclusion that the look was correct but the energy was not. I ended up going down an average office worker that's full of rage deep down.

A bit of Maurice and a bit of Fight Club.

I also worked out how I'm going to do finishers. So I'll be doing that next and finishing the kicking.

Looks good, maybe a loosened tie and rolled up sleeves or short sleeves? Looks a little smart?
