Hello Everyone!

My
name's Bryson Whiteman and my team Sokay is located in Los Angeles,
Long Beach area. We're working on a virtual reality music visualizer
called Raybeem.

The
objective for Raybeem is to provide an environment to chill out and
live in your music. You can load your music into it and pair it with a
visual theme of your choice. Something to fit your mood or the vibe of
the music. The environment will react to the music in different ways.

Here are some screenshots of the default theme:

There
are additional themes planned to give more variety. This one is in an
abstract art direction, but they can take on any form. The only thing
they'll have in common is that they will each react to the music. We're
aiming to launch with 3 themes.

We're aiming to launch with support for Oculus Rift. Eventually on as many devices as we can get it working for! D

Looks really cool. Would love to see more themes similar to Milkdrop (or Geiss if you want to go old school).

Milkdrop is what's motivating me! I don't think I'll ever be that great at math but I'm trying to take a different approach at having a mix of abstract psychdelicness and different kinds of 3D scenes. Still feeling out the looks of the other themes but I'll post them when we get to a good point!

Awesome!

Thanks! It's still rough but it's starting to feel like something cool! I'm doing all the art myself at this point so I decided to go for a lofi-Starfox/Virtua Racing kinda look. I'm still a fan of that kinda style.

The idea is that there's going to be a set amount of tiling city blocks, and the order in which you pass through them will be randomized to try to keep it interesting. Also there will be some changing of scenery by moving from cities to tunnels to bridges, etc. The road also curves kinda randomly. Certain objects will flash to the music.

Yeah, I always like the flat shaded polygon look and it makes sense in terms of amount of time needed to build the assets. Virtua Fighter was my jam, played the crap out of that game on Sega Saturn. Might be cool to have a wireframe / Virtual Boy mode sort of like that game Red Alarm (really loved that back in that day). It could be more modern though like with colored lines or backgrounds, etc.

Yeah, that's a great idea man! I'm not sure if I could switch out the shaders for this thing on the fly, but that's also a look that I'd like to explore with as well.
