Gypsy_Rose

I just got my Oculus Quest 2. so i'm new at it.  My CPU does not have a USB-C port. i think it is silly that they do not include this adapter in the  offical Oculus link cable  box.

the adapters off amazon are saying they will charge the unit, but cant handle video.  yet i have read many of the users of are using them...

which ones are you all using? with links please.

@MetaQuestSupport  This person already bought the official link cable so telling him to buy a different cable may not be too useful.  I think that the main point is that, given the high price of the official cable, it really should come with a proper usb3.1 Type A adapter imho.  The Cable Creations one I already mentioned is the best one I've used.  The Anker cable that you have linked to is much shorter (10ft vs 16ft) and does not have a proper right angled headset connector.  Yes you can buy a right angle adapter but every time you add something your performance will suffer imho.

In any case, if you have a good router/wifi setup the Q2 wireless with Air Link is soooo much better overall imho.

Apologies, misread the original query. I agree an adapter with the official cable wouldn't break the bank on an already overpriced item.

I agree that given the high cost of the official link cable it should come with an adapter for type a usb ports.  Even the good old Rift S came with a mini displayport adapter for those with laptops that only had a mini DP port.  Anyway, the only adapter I've found works well is a CableCreations one I got from Amazon.  Here's the link at my local Amazon store.  Hopefully you'll find one at yours.

Hey there Gypsy_Rose, we're here to help with your link issue! The cord that comes in the box is mainly used for charging the device. We've included an adapter in box but that's to plug into a wall outlet for charging the device. As far as link goes, you can use that cord, however you'll have a much better experience with another cord. While you can use any third party cables, keep in mind Oculus Link requires a high-quality USB cable capable of supporting data and power. Additionally, you'll also want to make sure that the USB cable is a long one for a more comfortable experience. Cheers!

OculusSupport,   I made this post  due to chat support  telling me to.       With the link cable  there should  be an adapter  for USB 3.

Your chat support  told me to go check with  Walmart,  Target  and Best Buy.

I have a friend  that works for Walmart.  They don't have anything  like this.

Target  had no clue what I was asking for and kept giving me the usb-c  cord.

Best Buy does not sell this adapter either...

So how are people  to hook up to their computers  with your link cable  if we done have the usb-c port?   From what Best Buy tells me even NEW windows computers  do not a usb-c port. . only a few laptops.

The HP Reverb G2 comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter, but it requires a USB connection to a PC. The Link cable should come with one too.

(There might be more. I only looked at one page of search results for Walmart or Target)

I couldn't find any from Best Buy. They had USB-A to USB-C adapters, but not USB-C to USB-A.

No idea if any of those will work with Link, I'd say the best bet is the Monoprice one from Target that says "3.1 Gen 2 Adapter, Up to 10Gbps data transfer speeds". (First target link above)

Hey there Gypsy_Rose, we appreciate the response! Although Best Buy and Walmart in your area may not sell the adapter, you should be able to use any standard USB C cable for link capability. Something similar to this here. Cheers!

@MetaQuestSupport  if a standard USB c would  work id have no issue.  As my cell phone  uses usb-c.  And it did NOT work.

@TomCgcmfc  thank you ill be ordering  that.

@kojack  thank you for the time. I have searched walmart  well,. most of the walmart  search pages are 3rd party sellers and while they will charge the Q2, they do not support link when you start reading it.

Did that adapter work? I'm dealing with the same problems.
EDIT: Realized that adapter is no longer available, sorry for bothering you.
