SteamVR over Oculus Link or Air Link with a Quest headset has a constant tracking stutter problem that makes every game experience feel like absolute dog**bleep**.

For clarification - This appears to be a bug that only appears over Oculus Link/Air Link while in SteamVR. It also appears to only affect some users including myself, or people are just not noticing it. To see if you have this problem, launch Link/Air Link and move your controllers/head smoothly in the Oculus app. Then load up SteamVR and do the same thing, you'll notice the tracking is significantly worse in terms of lateral or vertical translation.
The tracking bug looks identical to the video in this thread on the right side. Even in this thread, the OP acknowledges that his fix eliminated stuttering in the Oculus app while it made little to no difference with SteamVR.
Until Valve/Steam and Oculus actually acknowledge this issue and fix it, I have literally no reason to play any SteamVR games due to the bug. It is not GPU driver related. It is not streaming bandwidth related. Changing SteamVR resolution changes nothing. Switching refresh rates changes nothing. It literally looks like the controllers/head movement is having a horrible time keeping up with performance while the rest of the game runs perfectly fine. The issue also does not show up on performance graphs, leading me to believe it's entirely related to tracking. Also, OpenComposite of course eliminates the issue but it is only compatible with very few SteamVR titles. This issue does not exist with Virtual Desktop or ALVR, but both perform far worse in terms of visual clarity and latency.
This issue has seriously had me considering selling my Quest 2 and moving to a Valve Index, strictly because I am unable to enjoy the 22 VR titles I've purchased on Steam.

I have this exact same issue.... Did you ever find a fix?
It's driving me crazy and I've tried everything I can think of

Had the exact same problem, switched over to Virtual Desktop and it is no longer an issue. SSW is so much better than ASW.

I had the same problem and switched for steamvr games like half life alyx over to virtual desktop, on airlink it was unplayable and now it runs extremely smooth! i tried every available settings in the oculus software and in oculus debug tool but nothing helped... is there any word from meta on this?

Hey there RonnyBullet, we've seen that you're experiencing Link/Airlink SteamVR tracking stutter, which is never nice. Since we've been in your position before, don't be afraid to let us help you with this problem and see if we can get your system running smoothly.
Please test the following steps to see whether they are useful. This is the link that includes the instructions.
If your connection with Link looks choppy, has a stuttering screen or dropping frames try the following:
Keep in mind, if you've previously adjusted any settings for Link with the Oculus Debug tool (including Encode Bitrate, Encode Resolution Width, Pixel Per Display), changing the graphics settings above can negatively impact your performance.
To fix this, set all numerical values you changed to '0' (zero) and then restart the Desktop app.
If you're still having trouble with Link after making the above adjustments, please contact Meta Store support.
