Rift S DisplayPort connection issue

I bought a Rift S for my son for Christmas this year. I’ve been trying unsuccessfully since then to get it working. The DisplayPort won’t connect. Hoping the community can point out things to try or steps that I’ve missed.

Laptop: ASUS ROG Zephyrus M - GM501GS-XS74

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

OS: Windows 10

Laptop: ASUS ROG Zephyrus M - GM501GS-XS74

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

OS: Windows 10

All drivers updated to latest versions

Configuration changes:

GPU Mode: Set to Discrete Graphics (from Optimus Mode) via ROG Gaming Center

NVIDIA PhysX setting: Processor set to GeForce GTX 1070 (from auto select)

USB 3.1 Gen2 Type C Thunderbolt 3 combo port set to use GeForce GTX 1070. Confirmed through NVIDIA app

USB-C to Mini DisplayPort Adapter used: USB-C to Mini DisplayPort Adapter, ITD ITANDA 4K Thunderbolt 3 to Mini DP Adapter Cable

Light on Oculus is white. USB3 connection is green. DisplayPort does not connect. Just spins .

Any suggestions/ guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Things I’m wondering:

Could the DisplayPort adapter be the issue?

Do I have to “turn on” DP Alt mode or should it be automatic?

Hello, did you sort this issue out in the end? I've just bought an oculus rift s and have an identical pc. From what i can find on forums and google their appears to be mixed messages about whether it will work or not.

Cheers!
