I've just ordered a Rift S to be delivered to me in New Zealand. Are all
headsets sent from the US, or do Oculus have distribution centers
elsewhere (i.e. Australia)? Also, what are the chances of import duty?

When you unplug the HMD the 'on' light on the controllers go off. And
the controllers don't need to be woken with the Rift S - if the HMD can
'see' them, they appear without having been touched by me first.
I always just unplug my HMD from the PC when not in use, as that turns
off the controllers too. And yeah battery life is superb (thankfully no
silly lights, *coughcosmoscough*)
