  • i flew it last week and it was brill.  the instructor took off, got it to 2,000ft and then handed over the controls.  he handled the throttle, but allowed me to get the aircraft to about 5' from touchdown before he took control back.  it was a Cessn…
  • don't you think that there might just be a chance that the hand/finger tracking is aimed more at social media interaction, as a prelude to the face and body tracking stuff that was also on display at OC6?  The ability to use hand gestures will alw…
  • Maybe, for the aircraft you are flying, you need to enable nose wheel steering before you can use your rudders to steer it on the ground.  Open the controls mapping settings and search for "nose wheel" to see if this is the case.
  • hi Techy.  i wondered if you might notice my impending senility.   I have a RL flying lesson booked and wanted to try out a Cessna before doing so.  Given my apparent mental state, it might be best if i the instructor doesn't let me have a go.  :)
  • the way my optician explained it to me is that as the VR headset does not require your eyes to change the focal length of their lenses, with all images appearing to be at around a metre and a half away, the eye muscles would not get sufficient exerc…
  • (Quote) Thanks for that.  I'll check it out.  I think I've previously only opened the CODEX once and I think that was by mistake, but I apparently now have a good reason to open it again.  ;)

LOL, my wife would probably write down something that would give me a very strong indication of where I should go.  ;) i wonder if there is anything the VoiceAttack voice packs peeps, HCS, could do to record the message.  I suppose…
  • I'm just using the galaxy map to find systems with a state of "incursion".  This doesn't mean that there will still be Thargoid activity, as players might have killed that off, but Galnet does provide that information.  It looks like there…
  • either way, thanks for all the suggestions.  if i'm going to need to break immersion to do it anyway, i might as well just use the website that shows the already decoded messages.                                                                    …
  • It's possible, but i'm just going by the youtube videos that show the message being read out and not emailed. I suppose a DASH-pinned notepad page and virtual keyboard might do it, but it does appear to be a little clunky and that the game designer…
  • Has anyone figured out a way of "writing down" the codes that you hear at the eagle eye installations, when in VR?
  • I've just been going mad on collecting guardian blueprints, with now just the three vessel ones to go for a full set.   That's been a bit of a time-filler though, waiting for the next nearby Thargoid incursions, to allow me to more efficiently rank…
  • As it looks like Amazon might not ship directly to the Canary Islands, you could try to find a freight forwarding organisation, like https://www.colisexpat.com/pages/en/lpga/iles-canaries/amazon/.   You should shop around, as the above is just one e…

Do your keyboard problems show themselves by having a key press auto repeat endlessly, at least until you remake the USB connection? ive been getting that and had put it down to my Asus mobo's apparently dodgy USB or to a failing k…
  • Dash is pretty useful for allowing a browser window, with Spansh loaded, to be pinned behind the pilot's seat.  That allows the waypoints on the Neutron star route to be more easily copy/pasted into the ED route planner.   The ED route planner seem…
  • Maybe I need to start using the neutron star boosts?
  • Well it's taken me just under a month to get to Beagle Point and i am now on my way back, with around 1,000 jumps still to go.    Although I will probably make a fair bit out from the exploration data, I'm not sure that i will be in too much of a r…
  • From personal experience, it might still be worth contacting Oculus support, even if the Rift is out of warranty.  Mine was a month or so over the warranty, yet they still sent me a reconditioned Rift, when that audio issue arose with mine.
  • As a current Rift owner, probably the only reason that I would buy a Rift S would be if the Rift broke down and there was still no sign of the fabled CV2. the Quest, on the other hand is the one that I will be far more likely to go for, due to it b…
  • The only odd thing I had noticed was that the fire group setting for the discovery scanner had been cleared, but that was relatively easy to restore.   I haven't noticed any stuttering or any issues with the use of the FSS.  I do tend to fly around…
  • I'm currently waiting for the ED update to be applied, but won't be able to make much use of it, as I have still not made it to Beagle Point, let alone get back.  I still have around 15kly to go and then around 65kly to get back to the bubble, so I'…
  • I'm impressed with you being able to play Pinball FX.  I've not been able to play it for months, with some windows error message greeting me whenever I try. Edit:  Ah, after reinstalling it, onto another one of my drives, and trying it again, the p…
  • I often get the lower panel popping up when I clear my throat, with the ASTRA pack, so I'll probably also need to increase the confidence levels and maybe tweak other settings in voice attack.   "Neck's system" seems to work better for me…

You're probably right, but either way, it is good to hear that you managed to find a planet with geological sites, even if you couldn't find a place to land that beast of a ship.  ;) When i get back to the bubble, and that may take…
  • i'm about 15k ly beyond Sagitarius A*, on my way to Beagle Point,. so that might be increasing the chances of geological sites, as i have just had another splurge of them on a landable metal-rich planet.    I'm now in a bit of a "rush" to…
  • I must have been lucky on the geological sites then as doing a detailed surface scan on land able metal-rich planets has more-often-than-not resulted in a long list of them.  The sites should be listed immediately beneath the body-in-question in the…
  • https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteOne/comments/8bs6g8/foxs_stepbystep_guide_to_unlocking_engineers/ might be a good place to start
  • 62% is about the highest I get to, even when sucking in the maximum 878kg/s.   That's why I like it, as my other ships get a bit "hot under the collar" far more easily.
  • Thanks, but it was my previous tendency to getting too close to the star and overheating that was the risk I was avoiding.  I don't come across too many "bad guys" out here, especially in Solo mode. 😉 I normally throttle back, whilst in…
  • Finding and landing at geological sites adds a bit of variety and helps boost your supplies of the more rare materials, but I am expecting that I will probably still experience what you are describing.   Hundreds of jumps and FSS sessions are bound…
