I need step by step instructions to accept a referral

Just got a new Quest 2 that we bought for my son with a referral link from his friend. When I set it up the first time, I must not have used the correct email address and didn’t get the $30 credit.  I tried to factory reset and used the correct account this time and still don’t have the referral to redeem in the app. 

Exactly how do I do this?
