Population: One not available in Oculus Store

Nephroid
Explorer

I am trying to install Pop:One in my son’s headset but for some reason the app does not show up in the Oculus Store.

What’s strange is that if I log onto his headset I am able to download and install the game just fine.  Does anyone know why this happens?  Is there a parental control setting somewhere that’s driving this?

We have our own headsets and would to be able to play together.

Hey guys! Just wanting to reach out here before the fire spreads. It seems like this thread was actually an older issue which we've fixed.

Regarding now though, I assume when the game went Free-To-Play the new issue arose and people aren't currently able to locate the game in the store. We are looking into this currently and I'll be updating my response as any come in!

Any information you may have on this would be very useful. Thank you!

Edit 3/14/23 - - Checked in with our engineers and there doesn't seem to be anything just yet.

Hey there, @Nephroid! We would love to get to the bottom of this and see what we can do to get you guys both on population one! So that we can get the ball rolling we would like to start by providing you with some troubleshooting steps. Please try the following:

  • Uninstall and reinstall Population one.
  • Make sure your headset is up to date.
  • Reboot your headset.

As for your question about parental controls, when parental controls is on, it should ask you first if you'd like to give your son permission to use it, so if you have not denied him any access, it may not be that.

If those steps above did not help, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us so that we can continue to help you!

Thanks for replying.  We have rebooted the headset many times and have also confirmed that our headset has the latest update.

We are not able to reinstall Population:One since we could not find it in the store to begin with.

Hey @Nephroid it looks like the publisher decided to end support for Quest 1. Unfortunately I don't have any information on why this is happening.  Many other people have reported the same experience that you have in the Ratings & Reviews section of the experiences page. I know that's not the kind of answer you're looking for, but I hope it answers your question.

Scroll down to the reviews and sort by Most recent: HERE

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Thanks.  We definitely have Quest 2’s so that shouldn’t be the problem. (Unless the store somehow thinks I have a Quest 1).

I scrolled through about 10 pages of recent reviews but can’t seem to find anyone one with my issue, specifically that the app doesn’t show up in the store at all.

Thank you for providing us with this feedback. We advise at this time to please report this bug.

This is how you can report this issue, follow the steps down below:

  1. Press on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick settings appears, select it to open the Quick settings panel.
  3. Select Report a problem.
  4. Follow the instructions to submit your bug report.

To report a bug from the Meta Quest mobile app:

  1. Shake your phone until the Report a Problem screen appears.
  2. Tap Something Isn't Working.

Thanks for checking in. My issue is still unresolved.  Pop:One still does not appear in the store when my son is logged into the headset.  Yet when I log into the same headset I have no issues installing and running the game.

Hey anytime!

We haven't lost hope. Let us go ahead and try a few more things.

Would you be able to try purchasing 'Population: One using your mobile app or PC? We advise to even try using your web browser to purchase the game. If this doesn't work out please try open a new tab in incognito.

If you're still running into issues, please feel free to reach back out to us and we will get you covered.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Unfortunately Pop:One still does not come up in the search.  Here is a screenshot of the search results on the Oculus App.
