Hello,

Installed Windows 10 from scratch, legal iso. Full updated. Disabled Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. Moved setup software to c:\

Run. like hundreds of errors both in "Check your connection" and "Reset" (install phase).

Did the same with Windows 10 home, Pro, and now Pro N.

Eventually it got installed, then one day "Oculus can not find the Service", had to repair/reinstall so:

I format all, Installed Windows 10 PRO N (legal iso) AGAIN from scratch, full update, software in C:\ both antivirus and firewall disabled.

I get this kind of error every time:

So, I don't know what is happening.

1) My internet connection is a dedicated 600/600 MB symetric fiber connected by ethernet (ping 10 ms to google, cant  be that).
2) My HD is a SSD 600GB, the OS have plenty of free space.
3) Full rights for my user, it pops the window every time "Do you allow this software to make changes" and I press Yes, so It should have all rights.

Answering my own comment: The first time I run the setup I have to go /AppData/ and create Oculus folder to let the Log file be created, If I don't do this, the folder is not created and therefore no log... (It doesn't happened like this on my first installation-try-with-success)

What kind of mainboard do you use, is it like VR Ready? Laptops often don't work with VR. I wouldn't primarily worry about software, I'd worry about the hardware, especially the mainboard when trying to connect Rift-S. 2c.

Oculus Rift CV1, Valve Index & PSVR2, Asus Strix OC RTX™ 3090, i9-10900K (5.3Ghz), 32GB 3200MHz, 16TB SSD

@Alteza83 have you actually checked your connection for packetloss? Those logs you provided seriously point to direction that there could be something fishy in that direction.
I mean I have 350/20Mbps connection, but initially it had packetloss issues. They did not show on speedtest, pingtest or on any daily use, but connection was not totally stable. Cause was as simple as faulty/outdated household cable outlet, which had to be changed.
Other possible cause could be, that your ISP is shaping the traffic.
Obviously connection may not be related at all, but with your connection speed that update/install should be done in minutes.
Only other thing I can think of is that because of your connection speed, many storage medias are unable to write as fast as internet provides and buffer overflows. This should not, but still may cause issues with some transfer protocols.
When writing to hard disks I usually cut download speed to 10-20MB/sec and even more when writing directly to USB disks. Even if writing directly to SSD, got to check what the motherboards bus can reliably handle.

Hi.

Thanks for the answers.

Packet lost is not the issue, I can download all, play videogames, (Even FPSs) without any drop, or problem.

My motherboard is an ASUS MAXIMUS Extreme VI. All drivers good and update. It's not a laptop. You are missing the first point, it was already installed, used tested and played with...

Erm… so you telling me that the problem might be the connection is higher than the Samsung EVO SSD writing speed (with is really higher than 100MB/s) , of this would happen everybody in internet would experience this same problem even worse. That to be honest is something that the setup problem have/should handle....

Checking the log, if there were packet lose, the segments will get corrupt, and the setup would validate-re-download them.... so... unless the setup is not doing what its supposed to do...

Also, one of the last errors was the Setup could not initialize the service.... not related with packet lost, or motherboard...

Anything more?

Rather few have connections which exceed writing speed of any SSD.

Anyways continuing with stupid questions like when you managed to install the software 1st time was it to same windows version with same installer version from https://www.oculus.com/setup/ or has that changed during the process?
Also did you install the oculus software b4 plugging in the rift s or after?
...and also do you have any special characters on your windows username?

Just did a benchmark with Samsung magician, write/read 550 MB/s, connection, 600/600 MB/s ethernet fiber. The difference should not be a problem, also review I/Ops and error in disk both with resource viewer and with taskmanager. No issues.

The first time I did install it the headset was off both video and USB, and my windows user have only regular ASCII letters.

Do anynone knows why I always have outstanding segments? Aren't they supposed to be validated, downloaded and let "ok"?

ok so as regular no äöåè and so on? The recent installer has been really picky with those ones. Also for your information - my oculus cIient just downloaded and installed fresh version update 1.38.1 minute ago and it installed fine - maybe will fix your problem also if that affected also the actual installer... And someone wiser can answer to your segment question 🙂
Also if I recall in some thread some1 suggested that you should not connect rift s before oculus software is installed and when you do, should connect usb 1st and wait for a while before plugging display port in. Don't know if this makes any difference, but...
Also if you want or need to try another "fresh install", here are instructions howto delete current installation.
