I'm quite happy to see Facebook and Oculus doubling-down on social experiences, and not continuing to pigeonhole VR in to mere video games.
I spent 3 hours in VR last night with 2 other real-life friends, and while the table-top RPG we played was very addicting, the best part of that experience was all the talking and laughing. And yes, the sense of presence is amazing since these friends reside in a different part of the Country.

As a VR HMD for VR gaming i have no interest in any FB standalone devices, but as a untethered VR media device for watching media i could see myself grabbing one to replace the Q2, as long as they increased the res up to 4k and brought out a media remote, i loved the remote on the CV1 and Go so another small media remote for the Q2 or Pro would be the icing on the cake.

Depends on the type of gaming. If we're talking about gaming geared more towards active adults, then the more physically fit required games, like Boxing, are best played on Quest than any Tethered HMD.
Tethered HMD's are better for sit-down or standing experience. But if you want to truly move around without limits, then Quest 2 is best for gaming.
