version 1.04
http://yuriythebest.g0dsoft.com/YRI_1_004.rar
http://yuriythebest.g0dsoft.com/YRI_1_05.rar

Currently Supported Formats:
MPO
PanoramaCylinder_OverUnder_LR
PanoramaCylinder_OverUnder_RL
PanoramaCylinder_SideBySide_LR
PanoramaCylinder_SideBySide_RL
PanoramaSphere_OverUnder_LR
PanoramaSphere_OverUnder_RL
PanoramaSphere_SideBySide_LR
PanoramaSphere_SideBySide_RL
Photo_OverUnder_LR
Photo_OverUnder_RL
Photo_SideBySide_LR
Photo_SideBySide_RL
RiftScreenshot_RL - you can use screenshots taken while using the Rift and this output will "reverse" the distortion and allow you to enjoy it properly

jpeg, png, etc

NO MORE BROWSING, setting formats, switching LR, etc!! this is All Done with ALBUMS!

I've aimed to make this as easy to use as possible and for the browsing to not distract from the VR experience - all of the images are organized in "Albums" - that is, separate directories.

Each album contains folders named after the formats listed above - you should place images in the corresponding folders

after you have everything set up use the arrow keys to cycle photos in an album, and N,M to cycle albums.

Q to quit!

I've included a sample Album for testing

I do not have a rift and this app was developed, well, today - so I hope you enthusiast ppl will test it and find many bugs and post em here so I can improve it 🙂
I hope to add many more features soon!

Update: 1.01
Added other viewing modes apart from the Rift, to Switch between the other modes and the Rift press "C" - you will get this screen:

to switch between mouse view and this window press "Tab"

- when in Rift mode, when you are loading the next image the screen will now go black instead of freezing to avoid dizziness

Added Image Adjustment controls for Photos and Rift screenshots - separation, vertical aligment, distance and scale

Image Adjust Keys:
Separation [ , ]
Vertical Alignment ; and '
Scale K , L
Distance = Up,Down arrows

And best of all - these settings are SAVED so you don't have to re-adjust every time

special thanks to mediavr ( http://www.mediavr.com/blog/) for the spherical japanese garden panorama - his site contains many more panoramas which you can use with this here viewer

Update: 1.02

- fixed a bug that prevented the Image Adjustment functionality
- the default photo separation will now be much more comfortable (hopefully)

Update 1.04

- Added MPO Support!!
- Added The Arch - Enable/Disable using Enter

Keyboard shortcuts can be a pain to learn, finding them can be difficult when you are wearing the rift.
The Arch is the latest word in stereoscopic technology - it can be enabled/disabled using "Enter"
press buttons using "Left Mouse Buttons" or "Spacebar"

Also, since I don't have a rift, tell me this:
- is the positioning of the arch relative to the camera OK?
- is everything comfortable - are there any parts of the program that can be improved to make it more user friendly?

Update 1.05
- hopefully fixed MPO -related crashes due to memory usage - let me know if it happens again and the size of your MPO collection
- Added debug info text that displays the settings for each image - let me know the best settings so I will make them the default ones

I really like this concept. I think you should lead with some of the pictures that come up later in the demo. The first few pics 3d is off but there are some amazing ones in there. I am going to have to add some of my own. Really cool keep up the great work.

thanks! can you clarify the names of the pics and what's wrong? (convergence/separation, LR is swapped, vertical misalignment, etc)? I don't have a rift so it's hard to test

I love the concept, and I have been looking for just this kind of thing for my own 3D pictures.

But, as jason said, there are some pictures where the 3D is off. It's nearly impossible for me to look at most of these pictures for more than a few seconds. However, the 360 surround panorama of the Japanese garden actually looks comfortable for me.

When do you expect to get your hands on a Rift? It's hard to describe what's wrong and you're probably going to need a Rift to get it working the way you want. The only solid feedback I can give is that the transition from one picture to the next shouldn't stop the headtracking while it's loading up the next picture. If you absolutely have to freeze the view to load the new picture, maybe a fadeout/fadein would help here.

Either way, I'm really glad someone stepped up to make an album-based viewer like this. Keep it up! 🙂

Nice work ! It's a good idea for managing the different 3D formats. Thanks, it will be very useful for me.
about the samples, excepted some pictures that hurt my eyes, I was very impressed by the 2 japanese garden in 3D panorama format. Are they yours ? if not, have you got a link for other similar works from the author ?

Excellent! I added image adjustment controls in 1.01 so now this shouldn't be an issue - I hope to see all the cool pictures 🙂

nope, the sunny grassland photos are mine - the japanese garden is from:

he has many more cool panoramas

When do you expect to get your hands on a Rift?

I am currently waiting for either the consumer version or for a donated Dev kit

Also you are welcome to continue to use the image in your download but I would much rather you removed the "infrared" version you created and the modifications you made (the marks in the sky and zenith) to the original image. Also could you add a link to the image like the above and a credit to "mediavr" in the download please?

It is great you are making such progress with this app! I will check the new version shortly. Waiting eagerly for a version that supports video panoramas and stereo video panoramas.

Folks interested in the gear/methods that I have been using for stereo panoramas might like to look at this mtbs3d thread
http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=138&t=18015
or my stereo panorama blog: http://www.stereopanoramas.com/blog

I will start a new thread on this forum shortly on stereo panoramas etc -- with more samples -- for personal use

thanks again Yuri for your work with this player

thanks mediavr! you were already credited in the MTBS mirror of this post, added credits to this thread as well

but I would much rather you removed the "infrared" version you created and the modifications you made (the marks in the sky and zenith)

the marks were done for internal dev purposes (marking the edges of the images) - I will remove them soon since everything seems to be working. the infrared version is for Over/Under - if you have another suggested panorama I'd be glad to use that.
